Introduced in 2007, the 2008 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class falls into the model's first generation (X164). This luxury SUV features three trims - the GL320 CDI, GL450, and GL550 - each associated with a distinct engine. The GL320 CDI is powered by a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 that delivers 210 horsepower, while the GL450 gets a 4.6-liter gasoline V8 producing 335 horsepower. The GL550 comes with a potent 5.5-liter V8 offering 382 horsepower. A seven-speed automatic is the standard transmission, with all models featuring 4MATIC full-time four-wheel drive. Inside, the GL-Class is equipped with COMAND infotainment system, with navigation and Harman Kardon surround sound system. Safety-wise, the SUV boasts anti-lock brakes and stability control, along with side curtain airbags. For 2008, a new GL550 model with more powerful engine was introduced into the lineup.
