The 2009 BMW X5 is part of the midsize luxury SUV's second generation and it features a blend of comfort, utility, and BMW-tuned driving dynamics. The X5 is available in three trims: 3.0i, 4.8i, and the high-performance X5 M. Under the hood, the X5 3.0i packs a 260-hp 3.0L inline-six engine, while the 4.8i and X5 M are equipped with a 350-hp 4.8L V8 and a 555-hp 4.4L V8 respectively. All engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with either rear-wheel drive or optional AWD. Noteworthy features include BMW’s iDrive infotainment system, optional third-row seating, and a host of safety features such as stability and traction control, antilock brakes, front side-impact airbags, and side curtain airbags. This year marks the introduction of the high-performance X5 M variant – a first for the X5 lineup.
