The 2009 Buick Lucerne was one of the company's last traditional full-size sedans. Available in three trims: CX, CXL, and Super, the Lucerne offered a plush ride with a quiet, well-damped cabin. On the CX and CXL trims, power came from a 3.9L V6 generating 227 horsepower and mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The Super trim featured a 4.6L V8 producing a robust 292 horsepower. A FWD was standard across all trims. Among its best-loved amenities were the spacious and comfortable interior, OnStar telematics, and top-notch safety equipment including anti-lock brakes, traction control, front-seat side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags. Noteworthy was its integration with Harman/Kardon audio components and its streamlined approach to luxury. No significant changes were introduced in the 2009 model year, maintaining its atmosphere of understated luxury.
