The 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, part of its GMT900 generation, is a robust full-sized pickup truck that solidified GM's reputation for durability and power. This model year came in five trim levels: WT, LS, LT, XFE, and LTZ. It featured three cab styles (Regular, Extended, and Crew Cab) and various bed lengths. Engine options include a 4.3L V6 offering 195-hp, a 302-hp 4.8L V8, a 315-hp 5.3L V8 and the top-of-the-line 6.2L V8 with 403-hp. All engines, except the V6, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The 5.3L and 6.2L V8 engines featured Active Fuel Management, which increased fuel efficiency by deactivating half of the cylinders under light-load conditions. Safety features included front-seat side airbags, full-length curtain-type airbags, antilock brakes, and stability control. Infotainment was basic, but a navigation system and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system were options on the top-level LTZ trim.
