The 2009 GMC Savana is a full-size cargo or passenger van that is part of the Savana's first generation, which started in 1996. Available in two trims - the base 1500 and heavy-duty 2500 and 3500 - the 2009 Savana is powered by an array of engine choices: a 4.3-liter V6 with 195 horsepower for base trims, a 5.3-liter V8 with 310 hp for midlevel trims, and a 6.0-liter V8 with 323 hp for top trims. A 6.6-liter Duramax turbo-diesel V8 with 250 hp and a whopping 460 lb-ft of torque is also available. All engines come matched to a four-speed automatic transmission. The 2009 Savana offers a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds. Key features include standard 4-wheel antilock disc brakes and an optional StabiliTrak electronic stability control system. On the inside, the 2009 Savana is more utilitarian-focused than luxurious, with basics like air conditioning and a two-speaker AM/FM sound system. However, passenger vans can be equipped with rear air-conditioning, full power accessories, and cruise control.
