The 2009 Porsche Cayman belongs to the first generation of the model line, which proselytized the brand's sports car ethos through exceptional handling and performance balance. Two trims were available namely the base Cayman with a 2.9-liter flat-six engine, delivering 265 horsepower, and the Cayman S featuring a 3.4-liter flat-six engine, producing 320 horsepower. Both engines could pair with either a standard six-speed manual or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic (PDK) transmission. Important features included Porsche Stability Management, ABS braking, an onboard computer and a CDR-24 audio system as standard. Overall, the 2009 Cayman set a high standard in delivering exciting driving dynamics and a solidly built, comfortable interior. Some of the changes that year included revisions to both engines which improved power output and fuel economy, while the optional PDK transmission replaced previous year's Tiptronic S.
