The 2009 Volkswagen Jetta fits into the fifth generation of the model which was introduced in 2006. It is available in both sedan and sporty wagon bodies. Engine choices range from a 2.5-liter inline-five engine that outputs 170 horsepower to a 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine producing 200 horsepower. Both engines can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. There's also a TDI model powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine, providing great fuel economy. The Jetta offers an impressive list of standard features, including full power accessories, keyless entry, cruise control, air-conditioning, and a sound system with CD player and auxiliary audio jack, and an optional navigation system. It scored well on safety tests with features including stability and traction control, antilock brakes, front-side airbags, and full-length curtain-type airbags.
