The 2010 Kia Soul represents the first generation of this standout compact car. This front wheel drive (FWD) hatchback came standard with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 122 horsepower and 115 pound-feet of torque, with an optional 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that upped the horsepower to 142. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, but a four-speed automatic was optional. Available trims were the base, Soul Plus, Soul Exclaim and Soul Sport. Inside, the Soul offered an impressive list of standard features for its class, including a CD player, satellite radio, an auxiliary audio jack and a USB port. Available upgrades ranged from a sunroof and cruise control to keyless entry, Bluetooth, and premium audio. The Soul also received high safety ratings for the year, factoring in its extensive list of standard safety features, including antilock brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags, side curtain-type airbags and active front head restraints.
