The 2010 Nissan Xterra is a rugged and adventure-ready SUV. Part of the second generation, it is equipped with a 4.0L V6 engine producing 261 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque, mated to either a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. It comes in three trims: X, S, and Off-Road. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with four-wheel drive optional. The Off-Road trim, specifically designed for lovers of the great outdoors, features hill start assist and hill descent control. Inside, the Xterra offers a 6-speaker sound system with a CD player, an auxiliary audio jack, and available satellite radio. Major options include an upgraded Rockford Fosgate audio system, and a Technology Package with Bluetooth and a navigation system. Safety features include antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags, and side curtain airbags. It was noted for its off-road ability, but also criticized for its less comfortable on-road ride.
