The 2012 Chevrolet Cruze is part of the compact car's first generation, which debuted in 2011. Offered in four trims: LS, Eco, LT, and LTZ, the Cruze comes with either a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 138 horsepower, or a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder on higher trims, also producing 138 horsepower, but with better torque. All models have a six-speed manual transmission as standard, with a six-speed automatic available. The Cruze is FWD and stands out for its unusually quiet ride and solidly upscale interior for the class. It comes with standard safety features like antilock brakes, stability control, full-length side curtain airbags, front knee airbags and front and rear side-impact airbags. It also comes with OnStar, which includes automatic crash notification, on-demand roadside assistance, remote door unlocking and stolen vehicle assistance. The major highlight of tech from this era is the touchscreen infotainment system that comes with optional navigation on upper trims.
