The 2012 Ford F-250 Super Duty is part of the truck's third generation. This heavy-duty truck is available in three cab styles: regular, SuperCab (extended), and crew cab, and in five trims: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. Under the hood, there are two engine options. The standard powertrain is a 6.2-liter V8 that produces 385 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque, while a 6.7-liter turbocharged diesel V8 generating 400 horsepower and a staggering 800 pound-feet of torque is optional. Both engines get paired with a standard six-speed automatic transmission. The F-250 Super Duty also offers either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. Technologically, it is equipped with the Ford Sync voice command system and a navigation system in higher-end trims. New for this model year was the introduction of a compressed natural gas/propane prep package for the 6.2L V8 engine.
