The 2012 MINI Cooper Hardtop is part of the second generation of this fun and funky compact car. It comes with three trim levels: Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works (JCW), all offering varying levels of performance. While the base Cooper gives you a sprightly 121-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, the Cooper S, with its turbocharged version, delivers 181-hp, and the JCW cranks up that same engine to 208-hp. The standard transmission is a six-speed manual, though a six-speed automatic is optional. The Cooper Hardtop is renowned for its stylish retro looks, agile handling, surprisingly roomy interior and a generous list of standard features including HD Radio and a USB/iPod adapter. Despite the retro styling, modern safety features such as stability control, antilock brakes and numerous airbags are included.
