The 2012 Subaru Forester is a compact SUV, heralded for its roomy interior, reliability, and outstanding all-weather capability. It is part of the third generation, which debuted in 2009. All models of the 2012 Forester come standard with Subaru's symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The base powertrain is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engine producing 170 horsepower, mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5XT trim gets a turbocharged version of the same engine that generates a robust 224 horsepower. Standard features inside the Forester include a four-speaker stereo with an auxiliary input, and available features include a navigation system, panoramic sunroof, and a backup camera. For safety, all models come with front airbags, side-curtain airbags, antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, and brake assist.
