The 2012 Toyota RAV4 EV is a unique model in Toyota's lineup as it's the brand's first all-electric SUV produced in collaboration with Tesla. Sharing its core design with the third-generation RAV4, the RAV4 EV is powered by a 154-hp electric motor mated to a single-speed transmission that drives the front wheels. Its large 41.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides an EPA-rated range of 103 miles, a significant number for its time. On the inside, the RAV4 EV includes a unique suite of gadgets and controls to manage charging and energy use, including a 8-inch touchscreen with navigation and EV-specific features. Despite only being sold in limited numbers in California, it marked a notable effort in the mainstream electric vehicle market.
