The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 marked the beginning of the truck's third generation. It offered a choice of three engines: a 285 horsepower V6, a 355 horsepower 5.3-liter V8, and a top-tier 420 horsepower 6.2-liter V8, all paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive was available across all trim levels. Five trims were offered: the basic WT, mid-range LS and LT, off-road-oriented LTZ, and the luxurious High Country. The Silverado came with a host of safety features such as antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front and rear seat side airbags, and side curtain airbags. Infotainment highlights included a 4.2-inch or optional 8-inch touchscreen, and a six-speaker audio system, with options for satellite radio and Chevrolet's MyLink interface, which incorporated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
