The 2014 Honda CR-Z is part of the first and only generation of this hybrid sports compact. This hatchback pairs a four-cylinder gas engine with an electric motor, yielding a combined output of 130 horsepower. It came with either a six-speed manual transmission – unique for a hybrid – or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). These powertrain choices indicates Honda's effort to blend economy and engagement. CR-Z was offered in two trims: base and EX. Standard features included a rearview camera, Bluetooth, and a 6.1-inch infotainment display. Opting for the EX trim added an upgraded audio system, touchscreen infotainment system, and optional navigation. Notable safety features include stability control, antilock brakes, and multiple airbags, but Honda's newer active safety features were yet unavailable.
