This rear-wheel-drive sedan, with optional all-wheel drive, comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission across all trims: 528i, 535i, 535d (diesel), 550i, Active Hybrid 5, and the top-class M5. Inside, a 10.2-inch infotainment system offering navigation, BMW's iDrive interface, Bluetooth, and a nine-speaker audio system are standard. The 5 Series was also equipped with BMW's Driving Dynamics Control (Comfort, Normal, Sport, and Sport+ modes), a forward collision warning system and, in the M5, an optional Competition Package that boosted output by 15 hp.
