The 2015 BMW i3 belongs to the first generation of BMW's electric car lineup, launched in 2014. Available in two trims - Base and Range Extender, the i3 is powered by an electric motor that offers 170 horsepower, paired to a single-speed transmission. The Range Extender mode, however, adds a two-cylinder gasoline engine increasing the i3's range by 80 miles. Notable features include the futuristic 'Lodge' interior design language, a 6.5-inch display for the iDrive infotainment system which supports satellite radio and navigation, and onboard 7.4-kW charger for faster charging times. In terms of safety, the i3 comes with stability and traction control, brake drying feature, and front-seat side airbags. Despite being an electric car, the i3 sticks to BMW’s fun-to-drive ethos, delivering swift acceleration and nimble handling.
