The 2016 Jeep Patriot, part of the compact SUV's first generation run, is a stoic representation of off-road capability and compact convenience. It comes in two trims: Sport and Latitude. Mostly unchanged from previous years, both trims offer FWD and optional 4WD. Engine choices are limited to a 158-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder, or a 172-hp 2.4-liter four continuously variable transmission, but also offering a traditional six-speed automatic. Infotainment includes a 4-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack. Despite its basic set up, it still features essential safety equipment such as stability control, traction control, a variety of airbags, and ABS brakes. It continues Jeep's tradition of a rugged yet affordable SUV.
