The 2016 MINI Convertible belongs to its third generation. It is available in three trims levels: Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works. Engine choices include a 134-hp 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder for the base Cooper, a 189-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder for the Cooper S, and a more powerful variant of the same 2.0-liter for the John Cooper Works cranking out 228-hp. All engines are attached to a six-speed manual transmission as standard, with a six-speed automatic offered as an option. Front-wheel drive is standard across all trims. Standard safety features include antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, and a number of airbags. The infotainment system includes a 6.5-inch display, with the option for an 8.8-inch screen. Bluetooth and USB connection come standard, and navigation and a Harman Kardon sound system are optional.
