The 2016 Toyota Tacoma is part of the model's third generation, a mid-size pickup known for its reliability and rough terrain capability. It comes in six trims: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro. The engine choice includes the base 2.7L 4-cylinder with 159 horsepower and the more powerful 3.5L V6 that produces 278 horses. Regardless of engine, a 6-speed automatic transmission is standard, with the option of a 6-speed manual on certain V6 models. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with four-wheel drive optional. Notable features include a standard 6.1-inch touchscreen, with a 7-inch screen available in higher trims. Safety is addressed with the Toyota's Star Safety System, which includes Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-lock Brake System, and Brake Assist among other features. The Tacoma has incorporated tech upgrades as well, with available wireless smartphone charging and an integrated GoPro mount for adventure recording.
