The 2017 Ford Explorer, a part of the SUV's fifth generation, comes with a variety of robust engine options, ranging from the standard 3.5L V6 delivering 290 horsepower to the turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder with 280 horsepower, or an exhilarating twin-turbo 3.5L V6 propelling 365 horsepower. All engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Explorer can be either FWD or AWD, depending on the model. With five trim levels on offer (Base, XLT, Limited, Sport, and Platinum), there are options to suit a range of tastes and budgets. Infotainment features include Ford's SYNC system with either a 4.2" or 8" touchscreen, two USB ports and optional Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
