The 2017 Jeep Renegade hails from the model's first generation (2015-2022) and is a subcompact crossover known for its strong off-road credentials. It comes in four trims: Sport, Latitude, Limited, and the more rugged Trailhawk, each with FWD standard and 4WD optional. The base 1.4-liter turbo four engine produces 160 hp, while the optional 2.4-liter four-cylinder ups the ante to 180 hp. Both engines are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Renegade boasts a user-friendly Uconnect infotainment system with a standard 5-inch touchscreen (or an optional 6.5-inch), along with Bluetooth and optional Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety features such as hill start assist, traction control, and a rearview camera are standard, while advanced features like lane departure warning and forward collision warning are optional. The Renegade adds keyless ignition and entry to high-end trims for 2017.
