The 2018 GMC Terrain, in its second generation, is an upscale compact crossover SUV with three available trims: SL, SLE, and SLT. Front-wheel drive is standard with the option for all-wheel drive. The base model comes with a 170-hp 1.5-liter turbo-four engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 252-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-four and the 137-horsepower 1.6-liter turbodiesel engines are options on the upper trims. GMC infused the interior with premium touches, including an available 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Crucial safety features such as rearview camera, Teen Driver, rear seat reminder, and OnStar safety and security are standard. The higher trims offer advanced safety features like forward collision alert, lane keep assist, and rear cross traffic alert.
