The 2019 Kia Rio, a member of the fourth generation launched in 2018, seeks to balance economy, style, and features. It comes in two body styles: a 4-door sedan and a 5-door hatchback. Both are available in two trims: LX and S. All versions are powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 130 horsepower and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, delivering an energetic performance. It drives primarily in front-wheel-drive format. Infotainment elements include a standard 7-inch touchscreen, coupled with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Its safety package offers features such as forward-collision warnings with automatic emergency braking as standard on the S trim, but not available on the LX trim. The Rio has done exceptionally well in crash tests, earning a Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS.
