The 2020 BMW 5 Series is part of the venerable sedan's seventh generation. Available in Turbo-4, Turbo-6, Turbo-diesel, plug-in hybrid, and twin-turbo V8 engine options, the 5 Series provides outputs ranging from 248 to 617 horsepower. Mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission, most trims offer AWD as an option, with RWD being standard. Trims include the 530i, 530e (plug-in hybrid), 540i, M550i and M5, with the M5 Competition as the performance king of the lineup. Infotainment features include a 10.25" touchscreen (12.3" in M550i and M5), Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Significant safety measures include standard automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and blind-spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alert. For 2020, key changes include more standard safety tech and the M550i receives a power boost that reduces 0-60 mph time to just under four seconds.
