2022 RAM 5500 Overview

The 2022 RAM 5500 is a robust, hardworking chassis cab truck designed for heavy commercial use. It belongs to the fifth generation RAM trucks, inaugurated in 2019. It comes with a standard 6.4L HEMI V8 engine with horsepower ranging from 370 to 410, or an optional 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine delivering up to 400 horsepower. Both are offered with a six-speed automatic transmission. Available trims include the Tradesman, SLT, Laramie, and Limited, each with varying levels of features and luxury. Among its key safety features are electronic stability control, traction control, and optional advanced features like a rear backup camera for additional visibility. With the focus on a robust vehicle for heavy-duty use, there is less emphasis on infotainment and high-tech accessories. However, 5-inch and optional 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen systems are available on certain trims.
