This 1973 Porsche 914 is Live on Bring a Trailer! Check out the Auction Here: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-porsche-914-166/ The car has been refinished in a shade described by the consigning dealer as Phoenix Red, with the front end painted in asymmetric black and blue. Steel GT-style flared fenders have been fitted, as have a Getty front valance, bumpers, and rocker panels. The car also has black powder-coated trim, pop-up H4 headlights, a removable black Targa top, dual side mirrors, and custom rear-light housings. The flasher relay was replaced in November 2025, and lighting wiring and fuse connections were repaired. The windshield-washer pump has been removed, the fog lights do not work, and photos provided in the gallery below show chipped paint. Fuchs 16″ wheels with black-finished centers were mounted with 205/45 front and 225/50 rear Yokohama Advan Fleva tires in November 2025. The rear wheel bearings were changed in December 2024. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs, ventilated up front, and the suspension has been modified with 1978 911-specification Bilstein front struts along with reinforced control arms, Bilstein coilovers, and 200-lb/in springs at the rear. Additional work in November 2025 consisted of adjusting the ride height and removing material for rear control-arm clearance. The consigning dealer tells us the suspension bushings are old. The bolstered fixed-back bucket seats are upholstered in black cloth with vinyl trim, and Sabelt harnesses have been added along with a JWest Engineering shifter topped with a 917-style knob. There is no climate control, and the targa top's headliner is deteriorating. The MOMO Prototipo steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, and a fuel-level gauge. Additional gauges for voltage, oil pressure, and oil temperature are housed in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 10k miles, although total mileage is unknown. The 3.2-liter flat-six was installed under prior ownership and was reportedly assembled using the following components: Mahle cylinders JE 10.5:1 pistons Dougherty Racing 993SS-grind camshafts Twin-plug cylinder heads rebuilt by Anchor Atlantic PMO throttle bodies Clewett Engineering crankshaft trigger and ignition wires Wideband oxygen sensor Patrick Motorsports exhaust headers Mocal oil thermostat Front-mounted GT oil cooler Aeroquip lines and fittings Work at the end of 2024 totaled over $20k and involved installing a Haltech ECU, fabricating a stand-alone engine wiring harness, and rebuilding the starter motor in addition to overhauling the fuel system with a replacement tank, pressure regulator, injectors, and hoses. The oil was changed and the spark plugs were replaced in November 2025. Oil seepage from the timing-chain covers is noted by the consigning dealer. An October 2025 dyno sheet showing a peak output of 227 rear-wheel horsepower and 194 lb-ft of torque is included in the gallery below along with photos of cylinder-compression measurements. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle, said to have been rebuilt under prior ownership. A POR-15 rust-preventive coating was applied to underside chassis surfaces, and a Dansk dual-outlet muffler is in place. Owner's manuals and service records will accompany the vehicle. The vehicle's New Mexico title was marked in 2021 to indicate the odometer reading was not correct.
