2005 Ford Thunderbird 50th Anniversary Limited Edition

Introduced for 1955 as a sporty yet luxurious two-seater convertible, Ford's Thunderbird boasted handsome styling, a close-coupled cockpit and standard V8 power. As the years went on it morphed into a large luxury coupe and eventually was dropped in the late 1990s before being reborn for 2002 as once again, a sleek, V8-powered, two seater convertible.

Here we have one of those modern day, retro-themed Thunderbirds, and better yet, it is a beautiful example of one of the rare (just 1,500 made) 50th Anniversary Editions. It also boasts a clean Carfax.

With just 40,043 pampered miles on the clock and being a Florida "snowbird" car, this T-bird looks more like a 2-year-old rather than a 20-year-old car. The arrow-straight body looks fantastic in the special "Cashmere" hue, which is accented nicely with the multi-spoke alloy wheels.

The removable hardtop with its "porthole" windows pays homage to the '55 to '57 T-birds while providing the comfort and security of a coupe. A storage/transport cart is included for when that top is removed. The power-operated soft top is in likewise pristine condition.

The plush interior is likewise in pristine condition and features a classy two-tone theme. Highlights of its extensive list of luxury features include dual-zone automatic climate control, a power driver's seat and heated seats.

Under the scooped hood is a muscular yet refined 3.9-liter V8 that sends the power to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic. Underway, the Thunderbird moves out smoothly and, when desired, swiftly while the handling dynamics and ride comfort are similarly refined.
