This 1949 Cadillac Sedanette Restoration Project was purchased out of California about 10 years ago. The intention was to restore the car either stock-like (similar to Earl Campbell’s ’49) or as a restomod (like ZZ Top’s Cadzilla). Good intentions, but the owner never got around to it.
It’s being sold for its owner on consignment (flat fee, not a percentage) due to the owner’s desire to downsize his collection.
The car is rust free (minus a minor bit of surface rust), having been stored in a weather-protected environment for at least the last 10 years. Reportedly, the previous owner in California had done the same for about a five-year period.
The car can be purchased with a period correct 331 cu in engine (first overhead cam GM motor) and transmission. Most of the body parts are in tact except for the headlight rings.
