Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe CSX9126 Aerodynamics makes the difference in racing, and that was especially true in international sports car competition during the 1960s. Brutally quick as it was, the Shelby Cobra roadster lacked the aerodynamics needed to win on fast European tracks. That is why Carroll Shelby commissioned Peter Brock to create a slick coupe body for the car using the same rule that led to the Ferrari 250 GTO. The Shelby Cobra Daytona promptly began winning races worldwide. Only six were built, leading Shelby American to capture the USA's only FIA sports car world championship. The CSX9000 series car is a modern update of the car that ruled the track in 1965. Penned by original designers Peter Brock and Bob Negstad, the car features a tough composite body with show quality paint. The Daytona features a tubular space frame constructed of mild steel, a fully independent suspension front and rear with coil over progressive shocks and springs and a limited slip differential. Four-wheel vented disc brakes with power assisted calipers help stop the car while a power assisted rack and pinion steering provides sharp handling. CSX9126 is a gorgeous example of a classic Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe with a modern edge. The contemporary paint scheme combines a deep blue finish that catches purple highlights as the light shifts, teamed with twin black stripes. The blackout theme continues with black side pipes, black side mirrors, and black 18-inch wheels fitted with Nitto NT555 tires. The split rear cove treatment features black on one side and body color on the other. The interior remains purposeful with a vintage 1960s competition layout, including toggle switches for key functions. Modern updates include air conditioning, power locks, bolstered sport seats with Shelby logo, and Shelby door sill trim. Raising the front-hinged hood reveals a Ford Racing 427ci Windsor V8 and an engine compartment rich in polished components. Functional hood vents carry away excess heat and add to the distinctive nature of the car. Power is transferred to the ground via a Tremec TKO 5 Speed Manual to an Aluminum ZF Differential. 2025 is the 60th anniversary of the Daytona's championship season. There's no better way to celebrate that milestone than behind the wheel of CSX9126. The car is titled under CA SB100 Smog Exemption, has only 798 miles and is now listed for $249,950.
