1982 Crossel Formula Ford

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer This Crossle Formula Ford for consideration. Please keep in mind that the year noted in the headline of this car is an estimate. This Crossle Formula Ford was used in the early days of Skip Barber Driving School in their open wheel racing instruction program. Known as Skip Barber Chassis 026, the car features a Crossle chassis, what is believed to be a Ford 2.3 liter inline 4 cylinder engine, Hewland 4 speed transmission / transaxle, 4 wheel disc brakes, rear inboard brakes, adjustable coil over suspension, front and rear sway bars, dry sump system, side mounted radiator, electric start, fire suppression system, Bosch ignition, skid plates, adjustable seat, 4 point harness system, tach and gauges, fast removable body panels, Hoosier slicks etc.


This is a running and driving example. Notes on hand indicate that the car benefitted from a recommissioning process in 2019 and has had little use since. According to these notes on hand items addressed included: Fuel system to include fuel cell, lines and fittings, clutch master cylinder, front and rear brakes to include rotors, calipers, pads, master cylinder, fluids and needed lines. Also addressed: axles, boots, plugs, wires, oil expansion tank, filter, new ground cables, all fluids etc. Over $10000.00 dollars was invested at this time.


We are not claiming that the car is "track ready" as any race / track car needs constant attention, however it is not far from enjoying the open wheel experience. As with all cars like this, there are people who know more than we do about some of the nuances and what it will take to qualify for certain sanctioned classes.
