1955 Chevrolet 210 Two-Door — ZZ3 350 V8, 4-Speed, Custom Interior, All-Black Pro Street Build

Why This Car Is Special

The 1955 Chevrolet 210 sits at the center of one of the most celebrated chapters in American automotive history. Along with the 1956 and 1957 models, the 1955 Chevy belongs to what collectors and enthusiasts have long called the Tri-Five generation — three model years that share a body platform and a design language so well-proportioned that demand for these cars has never cooled. Of the three, the 1955 is the first and, to many, the most significant. It was the year Chevrolet introduced the small-block V8, a clean-sheet engine design that would go on to power everything from family sedans to race cars for decades. That engine changed what Chevrolet was and what it could be.

Within the 1955 Chevrolet lineup, the 210 was the mid-level series, positioned above the base 150 and below the Bel Air. In 1955, Chevrolet sold over 1.7 million cars total, and the 210 accounted for a substantial portion of that number across its various body styles. The two-door sedan body style — what you see here — gave buyers the practicality of a full interior without the added cost and trim of the Bel Air. Today that same no-frills starting point makes the 210 an ideal foundation for a serious custom build, because you get the iconic Tri-Five sheetmetal without paying the full Bel Air premium.

This particular 1955 Chevrolet 210 has been built as a coherent, driver-quality custom rather than a show car locked behind a velvet rope. The combination of a GM ZZ3 crate 350, a 4-speed manual transmission, disc brakes, a heavy-duty rear end, and a full custom interior by M&M Interiors represents real money invested in the right places. The result is a car you can actually drive — to a show, down a coastal highway, or across the country — without holding your breath.

Mechanical

The engine in this 1955 Chevrolet 210 is a GM ZZ3 crate 350 — a factory-assembled small-block that GM Performance Parts produced as a complete, ready-to-run unit. The ZZ3 was built around a cast iron block with a 4-bolt main on the center two caps, an aluminum intake manifold, and factory specs that produced around 355 horsepower in its original configuration. Here it's topped with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, which pairs well with the aluminum intake for good throttle response and tuneability. The chrome open-element air cleaner sits above it all, and the cast iron exhaust headers pull spent gases out efficiently before feeding into a dual exhaust system that runs the full length of the car. The black painted valve covers keep the presentation clean and consistent with the overall color theme of the build.

The transmission is a 4-speed manual, which puts the driver back in full control of every gear change — the way most enthusiasts who grew up with these cars prefer it. The clutch pedal is on the floor, the shifter is in your hand, and the connection between driver and drivetrain is direct. Backing that up is a heavy-duty rear end, which is the r
