Seller's Notes

1970 Plymouth Superbird for sale! Motorcar Classics is proud to present this awesome 1970 Plymouth Superbird 2-Door Hardtop. It is a rare, one-owner muscle car that is one of the last made and one of only 716 Superbirds equipped with the iconic 440 Six Pack V8 motor. It comes with Plymouth?s original Torqueflite automatic transmission featuring a column shift and bucket seats. The drivetrain remains all original, and this example retains its original factory steel noseconenot a reproductionwhich is a key distinguishing feature. It also has the original 26\" radiator, original fender and body tags, and the original black vinyl roof. The car is finished in the vibrant and highly collectible Vitamin C orange color, with largely original paint covering about two-thirds of the body. This Superbird comes from long-term storage and has been carefully refreshed and recommissioned in our shop, including a fresh engine rebuild to ensure mechanical excellence and reliability while maintaining originality. The Plymouth Superbird is an icon of muscle car and NASCAR history. Produced only in 1970, it was Plymouth's aerodynamic answer to the Dodge Charger Daytona and Ford Torino Talladega. Sporting a striking aerodynamic nosecone and a towering rear wing for downforce, it was built to dominate NASCAR racing, helping Plymouth achieve remarkable success on the track. The Superbird's bold design and performance innovations helped it reach speeds over 200 mph at Talladega in 1970, making it one of the fastest stock cars ever produced.Because of new NASCAR rules introduced after the 1970 season to curb speeds, the Superbird had only this one production year, with a total of about 1,935 units made. Among those, the 440 Six Pack option was rarer, with just 716 cars built with that powerhouse configuration, making this car an exceptionally collectible example. This rarity, combined with its strong racing pedigree and iconic styling, positions the Superbird as a standout collectible muscle car today. This examples originality, fresh mechanical condition, and stunning Vitamin C orange color with factory-correct details make it a remarkable opportunity to own a legendary and highly sought-after piece of Mopar and NASCAR history. The combination of the original drivetrain, factory parts, and limited production status ensures this Superbird remains a true survivor and investment-quality collectible.
