Details about our Excalibur Phaeton Series III for sale: Available at the St. Louis Car Museum is a 1975 Excalibur Phaeton Series III finished in a Signal Red & Ruby Red two-tone combination with Black Leather interior! These Series III examples are designed on top of sporty Corvette chassis providing 4-wheel independent suspension and 4-wheel disc brakes. Powering this sharp, neo-classical example is a Chevrolet 454ci High-Output V8, Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission, and 2.73 Posi-Traction rear end! The option and feature list are quite long for this impressive car. They include Frigiking air conditioning, power steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes, Nardi wood steering wheel, heater & defrost, full instrumentation, reclining front seats, tilt steering column, rear-mounted trunk, dual side-mounted spares, running boards, chrome 15 Cragar wire spoke wheels (6) wrapped in Goodyear Super Cushion 4 wide whitewall tires, original Blaupunkt AM/FM/Cassette radio, glass wind wings, Lucas fog lamps, functional air horns, and stainless steel side-exit dual exhaust! Our Excalibur model has had the same owner since 2002 and has been parked in a climate-controlled collection amongst other outstanding Excalibur models from each generation! Just before his purchase, it received a custom machine-turned aluminum dash fitted with new Classic Instruments gauges (original speedometer with odometer reading of 2,887 miles included) along with aircraft-inspired toggle switches for the operation of accessories. For this reason, we will be selling this vehicle mileage-exempt. A very nice vintage touch to a worthy neo-classic vehicle. This bright red, Excalibur is remarkably well-kept and shows only minor indications of being driven! The classic comes complete with its original auxiliary hard top, factory-fitted side curtains, and a formal cabin tonneau cover! All interior features and gauges are working, including the air conditioning! The Excalibur model seen here represents one of only 82 Excalibur Phaetons produced in 1975, and as of 2007, became eligible for AACA 2nd generation classification! History of the Excalibur Automobile Corp.: Created by industrial designer, Brook Stevens, who was responsible for innovations spanning some 60 years! With his automobile passion and career with Studebaker, he designed his own vehicle along with his two sons in the early 1960's, and later established Excalibur Automobile Corp located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. These beautifully crafted cars are completely factory built, never sold or produced in kit form. Their bodies where made of hand-laid fiberglass that was twice the thickness of a Corvette making them extra strong, with aluminum hood panels. Using only new components, modern drive train & chassis, and styling borrowed from the rare Mercedes SSK, these cars were an instant success!
