47,566 miles
1954 Chevrolet 3600 Pickup The Chevrolet 3600 was a medium duty truck model, part of the Chevrolet Advance Design and later the Task Force series, that was a 3/4 ton pickup truck. These trucks were produced from 1947 to 1959, with the 3600 designation indicating a 3/4 ton cargo capacity. There were different body styles and options within the 3600 series, including standard cab, step side, and different bed lengths. For consignment, a 1954 Chevrolet 3600 pickup with a title verified 47,566 actual miles and as a former farm truck, it's not unrealistic to have lower mileage, however this may be hard to back up as the odometer is not working. Careful records indicate constant maintenance dating back to 2007 and the engine has been rebuilt at some point. The truck combines a show worthy presentation with some old school patina parts, just the right mix that tells the story of its former working life. Exterior Bermuda Green over Onyx Black is the color configuration, a classic blend of colors that puts a green body over black fenders and running board with single stage coverage that shines pretty well. It's the grille and bumper, all in ivory paint, that retain chips and surface rust and stories. The fixed rear window, part of a five window set up, looks over the long bed beautifully finished with honey colored oak planks and stainless rails leading to a tailgate where Chevrolet is embossed and painted in white, flanked by simple round tail lights. 16-inch steel wheels are painted silver, including the spare mounted on the running board. Imperfections include paint chips on the edge of the door, a hole in the running board, a dented scuff on the front fender, and random scratches. Interior Green paint adorns the inner doors where no panel exists and the window is framed in ivory. The saddle brown bench seat is covered with an Indian blanket seat cover and seat belts for three are provided. For the times, this working truck has a robust steering wheel that leads to a simple ivory colored dash housing two gauges with six bits of information, rimmed in metal with patina. The dash is steel and wonderfully utilitarian, and our consignor has added a magnetic bottle opener for your soda pop as you work your way through the fields in summer. And you don't need carpet in a working truck and this one is appropriately covered in a rubber mat and from down here, we note the vintage heater and defroster mounted under the dash, because farmers don't yield to a little chill in the air! The ivory headliner is cracking and aged, but mostly intact and the five window setup allows in lots of light and allows you to survey your land in 360 degrees. Drivetrain Under the hood, a driver quality and rebuilt 235.5ci inline 6 cylinder fueled by a 1-barrel carburetor and set into motion via a 3 on the tree manual sending power to 4.11 gears out back. Drum brakes are found on all four corners. Undercarriage Surface rust dominates the frame except towards the front where it was coated with red oxide primer. We have some oil under the engine and nearby components as well as the rear differential, grease build up in certain areas, not too bad by the knuckles where fresh grease is seen. We note some rust on an inner panel of the cab skirt and on the inner rocker. A single exhaust leaves the engine and runs through a stock style muffler before exiting just before the rear bumper. Leaf springs make up the suspension front and rear. Drive-Ability We would don overalls and a straw hat to complete the vintage look, but we don't own them, so Dockers and a Classic Auto Mall hat will have to do! The truck cranks to life and rolls out into the agricultural air of Morgantown but relegated to our test loop where it tracks straight, provides endless visibility, and has a great ride height. You won't win any races in this truck, but you'll reliably get from one edge of your property to the other. We note the speedometer, odometer, wipers,
