626 miles
1972 Chevrolet C10 Long Bed Pickup America's most popular pickup offers you all the available choices you'd expect: three basic series with 16 models on three different wheelbases. Then there are the standard features that make the Chevy Fleetside first choice year after year. Girder beam suspension, double wall steel construction for cab and box. And Fleetside styling, newly refined for 1972. From the 1972 Chevy truck brochure For consignment, a 1972 Chevrolet C10 long bed pickup truck with 626 miles since its build. And what a build! Miles deep paint, a big engine, a built transmission and plenty of go fast, look good components that has the truck lovers on staff chomping at the bit. But then, that's just one of the work related hazards around here. Exterior About two years ago, this hauler was covered with two state Ruby Red Metallic paint, which alone in its quality would be nice enough, covering the bumper and headlight bezels. But then ghost flames in a lighter shade were added to the front, licking over the cowl hood and flicking the fenders. Out back, a roll pan takes the place of a bumper and allows the view of the 315/60R15's drag radials in back while in profile, the American Racing Torque Thrust wheels add a level of muscularity that's a fine fit Chevy. Up front, an eggcrate grille is the dominant feature while round headlights in square bezels split wide. A solid rear window, which is tinted, looks over a clean bed that has a fitted rubber mat inside of shiny red inner fender wells. Brightwork and paint are in fantastic shape with the only imperfections being some bubbling in the corner of both doors. Interior Sheridan scroll on black plastic door panels occupy the glossy red door panels while red flames are stitched into the top of the black vinyl bench seat, along with a Chevy bowtie, all in good shape. A wood rimmed steering wheel fronts the standard dash with gauges housed in a textured black plastic faceplate and the center stack highlights the red painted dash while housing the AM/FM/Cassette radio and air conditioning panel, all competing for attention with the mirror finished chrome glove box door. Finally, black loop carpet covers the floor cleanly and the roof above was also included on paint day! Drivetrain An impressively clean and show ready powerplant awaits us as we pop the hood, here a 454ci V8 bored to a consignor stated 496ci, is topped by an Edelbrock intake and Demon 750cfm 4-barrel carburetor and mated to a TH400 3-speed automatic with a 3000 rpm stall converter and built for HP. Power is sent via a one piece driveshaft rated at 600hp to the 12 bolt rear with 3.73 gears. Among other polished parts under the hood, the brake reservoir cap and booster power the disc brakes in front and drums in rear. Headers cover the exhaust ports and send things southward. Our consignor also states that all the wiring is new in the truck. Undercarriage When the frame was off, it was blasted and epoxy coated and sealed and that's evident once we get her on the lift. Super clean underneath with minimal surface rust and a few drops of oil on the pan. The dual exhaust runs through stainless mufflers before exiting behind the roll pan via downturned pipes. Suspension consists of coil springs in front and a 3 link with coil springs and a panhard bar in back. The truck has been lowered in the back via new springs. Drive-Ability We have a clear sunny day to proceed with our functionality test of this clean machine. The V8 fired up and expelled a lovely exhaust note while the truck rolled smoothly onto the tarmac where it performed well and provided a comfortable and capable ride. Tracking, handling, and braking are all good. Only the horn, which needs a relay according to our consignor, and radio do not work with all other functions operating as expected. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these funct
