The MGB is a two-door sports car manufactured and marketed from 1962 until 1980 by the British Motor Corporation later the Austin-Morris division of British Leyland, as a four-cylinder, soft-top sports car. It was announced and its details first published on 19 September 1962. The MGB was one of the first cars to feature controlled crumple zones designed to protect the driver and passenger in a 30 mph impact with an immovable barrier (200 ton).
The roadster was the first of the MGB range to be produced. The body was a pure two-seater; a small rear seat was a rare option at one point. By making better use of space the MGB was able to offer more passenger and luggage accommodation than the earlier MGA while being 3 in shorter overall. The suspension was also softer, giving a smoother ride, and the larger engine gave a slightly higher top speed.
Not your average 'BGT, this gem boasts a 1995 GM/Chevrolet, 3.4 liter, Sequential Port Fuel Injected, V6 and high-speed, Borg-Warner T5 five-speed transmission from a V8 Camaro which includes a high speed 5th gear for long distant travel. Cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment was completed at BMC British Automobile of Isanti, Minnesota in 2011. Other details consist of 15", 60 spoke, chrome wire wheels with stainless steel spokes, a Wbasto Style sliding sunroof, refurbished Fiero seats, Classic Auto brand LED exterior lighting and a modern stereo. Equipped to handle the heat that this engine brings, a MGB V8 cooling system was also installed; actually the same as the V8 MGB, bit it's a 1980 MGB radiator and British Motor Heritage panel kit from BMC.
This MG should be capable of 0-60 around 6 seconds or so and should be easy to drive. Support for the driveline is readily available through both the original supplier bmcautos.com as well as online forums such as https://www.mgexp.com/phorum/list.php?40 but they tend to be very reliable, trouble free and fun to drive with 220 lb-ft torque in stock form.
