1992 Chevrolet Caprice 4 Door Sedan At the moment, Caprice is the 16,355th most popular baby name in the country. It has French roots and is perfect for a baby with a delightfully mischievous streak, as this gem means whimsical and playful. A number of notable celebs share this name, including the novelist Caprice Crane and the model Caprice Bourret. Caprice also crops up in popular culture from time to time, from the Chevrolet Caprice car to the character of Caprice Winters from the 2013 film G.B.F. Given its cheeky connotations, we think that Caprice would be a wonderful name for your little trouble! from thebump.com For consignment, a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice 4 door sedan with a title verified 76,930 actual miles. Caprice models were always large but never as rounded as the fourth generation which premiered in 1991 and was named Motor Trend's 1991 Domestic Car of the Year. Its nickname from the previous generation's box Caprice was changed to the bubble Caprice for its rounded roofline. Exterior It likely took a few gallons of Light Sapphire Metallic to cover this big car, especially when you take into account that chrome bumpers are replaced with flexible, seamless bumper covers and both the hood and decklid are sizable sheets of steel. You can see this best in profile which also demonstrates the large windows, including the sail panel which has a fixed glass window. Composite headlights conform to the fascia just as the oval tail lights line up flush with body panels, curving around the corner seamlessly. 15-inch chrome hubcaps are sharp, and the wheels are wrapped in 205/70R15 with a late 2023 date code. Out back, the fender rides low over the wheel in the way a fender skirt might and leads to a long overhang past the rear axle. The paint and body are in good shape and the only imperfections are some varying shades of blue on different panels and materials. Interior Early 90's glamour is encapsulated on the door panels where cloth inserts rise over blue vinyl and plastic, a carpeted side to the storage bin, and some simulated burlwood accenting on the hardware. All four doors are configured this way and in great shape, housing a crank window handle on each. The matching front seat is newer per our consignor and is a long bench with fold down armrest. Out back, the wide bench is the last of the great date night back seats, backed by a sizable package tray with inboard speakers and a third brake light. The clean blue steering wheel frames the horizontally oriented instrument cluster including the speedometer that sweeps to 100 mph in a burlwood faceplate that spans the entire dashboard. Idiot lights flank the speedometer while the typical Delco AM/FM/Cassette player and climate panel stack in the middle of the dash. Black carpet covers the floor and is new, the foam backed headliner above is in excellent shape, and the trunk is lined with gray panels and houses a protective fitted rubber mat. Drivetrain Under the hood, more cleanliness! A 5.0 liter LO3 V8 resides there, fuel injected and rated at 170 horsepower. A 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission backs it up and sends power to the 10 bolt axle with 2.56 gears in back. Power disc brakes are supplied up front with power drums in the back. The battery is newer according to our consignor. Undercarriage Surface rust is present underneath and some of it is flaking, but otherwise conditions are clean and dry. A single exhaust flows through a stock style muffler exiting just behind the bumper cover. Suspension is made up of coil springs up front and a 4 link with coil springs out back. Drive-Ability We hop in the cavernous cabin of this time capsule and grab the familiar GM column shifter. Familiar especially if you grew up any time in the 70's, 80's, and early 90's. Fuel injection delivers gas immediately and the V8 starts right up and we roll this rounded land yacht onto the test loop where it checks all the boxes for some vintage good times, (ev
