Seller's Notes

A spectacular early 901 with only 721 miles since a full rotisserie period correct performance restoration. This 1967 901 chassis is a Reutter built body that originally left Stuttgart as a 912 Sunroof coupe. Not much is known about the car's early years, but it was purchased the mid 1980's by Peter Sorensen of PBR Restorations in Crockett California with the intent of building a special one-off canyon carving fire-breathing Hot Rod. The subsequent rebuild transformed the car from mundane to monstrous with Peter's intended vision of \"Street Outlaw meets 911R\". Peter built the car as a personal bucket-list car for himself. The donor body was a rust free Reutter built 912. It was then stripped to it's bare metal and epoxy sealed prior to being widened with steel RS flares allowing for wider 16\"x6\" and 16\"x7\" Fuch Alloys. In order to clean up the car's profile, the bumpers were fabricated to 911R spec then frenched to match the body lines with the front bumper being flush mounted to the hood, and to round out the visual package, SWB 911S factory side rocker mouldings were also installed. All exterior brightwork was stripped to bare aluminum and brushed to a semi-matte finish. The finished body was then sprayed with Dolphin Grey Glasurit paint, that is overall shows exceptionally well. The Fuch alloys were sourced from a later model G-Body 911 then refinished in black with matching Dolphin grey spokes in matte finish and polished lips. The car also wears a correct aluminum 3-slat rear grill that has been matte-brushed finished to match the rest of the brightwork, as well as a brushed Talbot & Co. bullet side mirror, then to tie together the exterior details, 911R style rocker and engine cover graphics were installed.Replacing the Type 616/36 4-cyl engine is a newly built 2.8 liter powerplant housed in an early production 901/05 aluminum case ( Engine Stamp# 907360). The engine was assembled using JE pistons and cylinders with 11.5:1 compression, GE80 Cams, and Michael Stempsen built twin-plug heads, before finally being fully balanced. Additional engine modifications include 6 individual Electromotive Coil Packs (one for each cylinder), PMO 46mm carburetors and lastly, front mount radiator style oil cooler with custom oil lines to keep things cool. The exhaust gasses are evacuated using SSI heat exchangers and an original 911R Sport muffler. Sending the power to the wheels, is a freshly built early-aluminum 901 gearbox (Gearbox Stamping# 901703) with close ratio gearing in gears 1-4 with 5th gear being an overdrive for highway use. Additional gearbox notables include an early inertia based limited slip differential, lightened 911R sport flywheel, Kennedy Sport Clutch, and a short throw shifter. To help stop the additional power, the brakes were updated significantly. Up front, you'll find 17\"x24mm slotted steel rotors that are clamped by Boxster 4-piston calipers, and at the rear, 964 calipers with Drilled 964 Turbo rotors. Friction is provided by Textar pads, and the fluid is managed with a 23mm brake master cylinder and stainless steel lines. The suspension was reworked and built using 22mm front torsion bars, 26mm rear torsion bars, adjustable rear spring plates, as well as adjustable Koni dampers. Additional steering and suspension modifications include: Rebel Racing front and rear bushing sets, Turbo Rack and Pinion steering gear with aluminum cross brace, and strut dropped spindles with bump steer kit. No proper build is complete without the accompanying go-fast kit which in this case includes, a center-fill 100-liter fuel tank, a lightweight wiring harness and a ReFuze fuse block along with Rebel Racing 911R style door handles, rear tethered period correct Simpson racing lap belts, custom fabricated brushed aluminum horn grills, and H1 headlamps (both amber and clear Bosch headlamp lenses accompany the sale).Lastly, the interior was both cleaned up and dolled up with a rear seat delete box, custom wool carpeting
