The Impala name was first used for the full-sized 1956 General Motors Motorama show car that bore Corvette-like design cues, especially the grille. It was named Impala after the graceful African antelope, which was used as the car's logo. The cabin features bench seating upholstered in red and white cloth and vinyl, and a matching color scheme extends to the door panels. Interior appointments include front seat belts, polished dashboard trim, manual-crank windows, an AM radio, and quarter-vent windows. The two-spoke steering wheel features a semicircular chrome horn ring and fronts a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, a warning light cluster, and additional gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 44,250 original miles. The car left the factory finished in Ermine White (936A) and had a repaint in its lifetime.
