Seller's Notes

1962 Buick Skylark Coupe Mid year in 1961, Buick introduced a special Special: a deluxe two door sport coupe adorned with an equally special Skylark name. A vinyl roof, extra trim, turbine style wheel covers, unique exterior identification and a plush vinyl interior helped set the $2,621 Skylark apart from its $2,330 Special sport coupe cousin. Standard power came from an innovative aluminum V8 displacing 215 cubic inches. A Skylark convertible joined the carryover coupe in 1962 and both bodies remained available the following year with 34,060 coupes and 8,913 convertibles produced in 1962. Thx Hagerty.com For consignment, a 1962 Buick Skylark coupe with a title verified 44,083 actual miles. From 1953, the Skylark enjoyed seven generations, with production finally halting on December 4th, 1997. This is a garage kept example in a wonderful silver on red configuration.  Exterior The jet age sneaks into the design here with rocket shaped curvature to the body panels, a pointed front end and a sweeping, descending mid line. Quad headlights would carry across the Buick line in '62, (and years to come), and so too would the ventiport accents on the fenders, here in all their triple glory! The Silver Cloud paint is in fantastic condition and shines deep for a single stage and does an amazing job at highlighting even the subtle body lines. The detail trim that wraps from the narrow tail lights is fantastically 60's, and the squareness of the rear, highlighted by integrated reverse lights in the valance, is spectacularly simple and attractive. 13-inch wheels carry the proper wheel covers while vents at the base of the rear window hint at flow through ventilation. We could not find any glaring exterior flaw on this silver two door. Interior It's just about time capsule time as red vinyl doors with varying designs on its panels greet occupants with a touch of GM class as a button backed grid and carpeted kick panels present cleanly. The buttons are used on the red bucket seats too, where the driver's side shows just a touch of wear, most noticeable in a spot of worn piping at the entry point. But that's a minor blip in an interior that presents very well, and a back bench that is showroom fresh. A crack on the red plastic steering wheel veers from its perfection while the dash, with its clear, horizontal speedometer and aluminum backed switchgear panel, looks like it hasn't left 1962. The dash pad is clean and so is the red painted panel that houses an AM radio while down below, the red loop carpet shows some typical discoloration but is otherwise clean and intact. The white headliner, near perfect, and the trunk shows some usage on the vinyl mats covering the floor.   Drivetrain Buick's 215ci V8 presents in driver quality condition under the hood and is fueled by a 4-barrel carburetor rated at 185 horsepower. Behind it is the dual pitch turbine drive 2-speed automatic transmission which routes power to the rear axle and 3.36 gears. Drum brakes are found front and rear.  Undercarriage Looking original, the underside has both some surface rust on typical components and appears to have been undercoated at some point, so flat surfaces are rust free. There's some residual oil on the pan but conditions are otherwise dry. A single exhaust flows through a stock style muffler and eventually finds its way to the back where a chrome exhaust tip awaits. Suspension consists of coil springs in front and a 4 link with coil springs in back.   Drive-Ability A V8 in a small car? We're in! And off we go around the test loop where the car stumbles a bit under acceleration, but otherwise delivers good power, straight tracking, and nice visibility thanks to a lack of B-pillar. On stopping, the car pulls to the right when braking. Beyond these things, all other available operations work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these f
