Seller's Notes

1969 Ford Torino GT Convertible The Torino was introduced in 1968 as an upscale version of the Fairlane to expand the intermediate offerings at Ford. How could anything so cool, look so hot boasted the sales brochure. The GT was born to move, wheel, swing, streak, impress, dazzle, whirl, soar, and ride, ride, ride. Born to move. Move one into your neighborhood.  For consignment, a 1969 Ford Torino GT convertible with a title verified 75,742 actual miles. If you've never heard of one, that's because only 2,552 convertible GT's were produced in 1969 and if you could swing the extra $200, you'd have to pony up $3,073 for the convertible!  Exterior Single stage Brittany Blue coats this handsome car with obvious genetic links to the Fairlane and were featured side by side in a dedicated sales brochure. The wonderful slab sides are augmented with white rocker stripes and a body length spear trim on the side. The shoulder line is basically a straight line with blue pinstripe and with the top down, creates a well proportioned profile and the rake of the windshield is accentuated. Dual headlights and a GT emblem fit the front grille while distinctive square tail lights perch above a rear grille and laser straight chrome bumper. An ornamental hood scoop rises from the hood which helps set the GT apart from conventional models, and GT identification is found on the hubcap of the Styled Steel wheels. The black canvas top is in very nice condition and houses a glass window. Imperfections include some pitting on the underside of a bumper, plenty of bubbling on lower panels, and some paint runs.  Interior he vinyl blue door panels are simple and intact and show some patina including some discoloration on the header. Although the driver's lower looks newer, the rest of the split bench, also in blue vinyl, has patina, discoloration, and some small tears, while the rear bench remains in good condition. An aftermarket steering wheel with black rim and bright blue spokes fronts an otherwise stock appearing dashboard with four round gauges lined uniformly over the mid panel with metallic knobs and an AM/FM radio and it all has a touch of patina. Newer looking blue loop carpet covers the floor cleanly while the foot wells could use a dress panel. The trunk is in used condition with a loose spare, jacks, and floor mats taking up a fraction of the enormous space.  Drivetrain Under the hood, a driver quality Ford blue 302ci V8 resides, putting out 220 horsepower and receiving metered go juice through a 2-barrel carburetor. It is mated to a C4 3-speed automatic sending power to the Ford 9 in back with 3.00 gears. Stopping is achieved with drum brakes located at all four wheels. The bay is simple by today's standards with lots of room to work, and appears to have a newer aluminum radiator.  Undercarriage Driver quality with some typical surface rust, white oxidation, oil on the pan, and some build up in spots. A single exhaust, some of which looks newer, leads to a stock style muffler and terminates just past the rear wheel under the car. Suspension is configured as coil springs up front and leaf springs out back with some newer appearing rear shocks. Power steering is present.   Drive-Ability The trusty 302 starts up and sends this Grand Touring example on its way around our test loop where the 75 series tires help temper imperfections in our blacktop and help achieve straight tracking, decent handling, and responsive braking. Limited features increase the probability of a solid functional test, and this one scores 100, everything works as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. On day one of your ownership, you'll be the caretaker of a fairly rare Ford. Now, we're not going to tell you what to do with your new classic, but this one has some great bones for a show winn
