Seller's Notes

1950 Buick Super Series 50 Jetback Sedanet The Super 2 door Jetback Sedanet, there's room for three in the back, as well as up front. There's the sporty touch of a coupe, plus comfort that most sedans aren't up to. It's trim and tidy and ship-shape all the way. From the 1950 Buick brochure, colorfully illustrating a dizzying array of model configurations over ten pages. Buick's motto at the time was, When better automobiles are built, Buick will build them!. For consignment, a 1950 Buick super 50 Jetback Sedanet with a title verified 5,857actual miles, however these may be lower than actual as the odometer is not working. The streamlined jetback of the model lends itself well to the street rod treatment, and this beauty's been chopped, nosed, sectioned, shaved, and after borrowing some parts from GM cousins, treated to a three stage paint job, clear over two blended colors. Exterior Streamlined best describes this nose up, tail down design, greatly enhanced by the 3.5 inch chop up front and the dramatically tapered rear window the share the C-pillar with an almost horizontal rear window which curves like '71 Riviera, maintaining the shape through the jetack bodywork, flanked by blue dot dressed tail lights from a 1953 Pontiac, turned on their sides. Pontiac also ponied up some side trim, a spear with pointed tip on front fender and whipped tail meeting the chrome bumper wrap around. Up front, a '53 Oldsmobile grille towers over the reworked and robust '51 Buick bumper and it all creatively works together. Artful application of Candy Brandywine along with Dark Candy Brandywine sets the tone here with a deep shine rarely interrupted and our builder kept the iconic ventiports on the side and 75 series white wall tires round out a stunning presentation. Imperfections? We couldn't find any major flaws on the exterior. Interior Black and red is the theme on the inside beginning with red textured vinyl panels framed by black metal headers and carpeted kick panels on the doors. The split bench seats share the pattern and feature red piping and this and the matching rear bench are in great shape. Up front, a more modern three spoke steering wheel is wrapped in black leather with patina, leading to a simple dash that retains an original speedometer, flanked by some updated AutoMeter ivory faced units. A jukebox like presentation adorns the center of the dash, a chrome ribbed affair with a speaker under the AM radio, BUICK spelled out on the push buttons, along with two rows of chrome knobs. We jump from the 50's to more current times with the lower stack, an AM/FM/Cassette radio and an equalizer in a custom case over the black carpeted floor. Red bows accent the charcoal headliner above and the sizable trunk is dressed in red and black carpet. Drivetrain Under the bulbous hood is a clean 350ci V8 with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic sending power to the Ford 9 axle in back. Power brakes are onboard configured as drums on all four wheels. We've got a 12 volt system and air conditioning is supplied, one of the many components under the hood that is show worthy clean. Undercarriage Clean conditions prevail underneath with dry pans and minimal surface rust. On our scan, we find some invasive rust on a body braces and inner rockers that appear to now be fully encapsulated and not progressing. We note a small spot of rust on the pinch weld on the driver's door bottom. Meanwhile, clean dual exhaust flows through Smithy mufflers, rolls through the X-frame, over the rear axle, and out to the back via chrome tips. Suspension sleuths will find coil springs up front and a 4 link with coil springs in the back. Drive-Ability We open the hefty door and take our seat on the big bench up front and pull the familiar GM column shifter our way after cranking the trusty 350 to life. There's a nice bellow coming from way back yonder and this smooth operator rolls out onto the test loop,
