Seller's Notes

2005 AM General M1045 1-1/4 Ton 4x4 The High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, (HMMWV), better known as the Humvee, was a series of lightweight military trucks and utility vehicles. The AM General Humvee has been in production for over nearly forty years, with various evolutions having been built. The Humvee would not only prove an incredibly capable vehicle, but its popularity spawned a successful commercial version, the Hummer H1. Classic.com For consignment, a 2005 AM General M1045 1 ¼ ton 4x4 with a title verified 4,451 actual miles. It may be surprising that AM General created various versions of the HMMWV in 2005, including the 1097R1, 1123, 1114, and the 1043A2, each with differentiating features but sharing their obvious utilitarian military profile and apocalypse surviving exterior. Exterior A shiny vehicle would be easy to spot in the glare of the sun, so this military beast maintains its matte desert tan paint. But there is some shine here, in the form of numerous lights bars front and rear and along with the newer projection bulbs in the headlights, are intended to give the Hummer more road vision than ever before. The jaw dropping width of the rig is made even wider by the trailer mirrors to the side and the tubular brush guard wrapping the entire front end. The steel transporter is pure utilitarian with nothing hiding the rivet construction or dressing up hinges except the tan paint. Everything is heavy duty including the rear bumper, complete with trailer hitch and a light bar of its own, while a Jerry can and whip antenna add to the realism of the presentation. One door has some cracking paint but that doesn't impact its battle ready profile! Interior No door panels here and in fact, none of the typical creature comforts to soften edges like carpet, cloth, and or decorative trim. What it lacks in domestication, it makes up for in space. Hop in the black vinyl bucket of the driver's seat and you're a good distance from everyone as the center tunnel divides the space and as a result, leaves room for firearms and heavily clad soldiers. Seating for four but room for 10, and behind the rear seats is an open cargo area holding a spare and a few added speakers. A Grant steering wheel in flat black actually works here, and leads to a basic instrument cluster with Speedhut gauges. A CB, some screens, and the switches for the auxiliary lights are all part of the equipment now. Headphones still hang from the ceiling, part of a Rugged intercom system and rubber mats provide a touch of luxury on the floor. Drivetrain Under the hood, a driver quality and battle ready 6.5 liter turbo diesel, fuel injected and rated at 190 horsepower. It's mated to a GTP 4-speed automatic splitting the spin between both axles with 3.08 gears and limited slip. Power disc brakes assure stop ability for this 6,400 pound vehicle. Undercarriage Take your average recreational 4x4 and just about quadruple the size of componentry and you'll have the M1045. It's fairly clean underneath with some typical surface rust and peeling paint but on steel this thick, it's inconsequential. Everything looks intact underneath where a single exhaust runs through a stock muffler before terminating. Giant coil springs make up the independent suspension front and rear. Drive-Ability Once running, we thread this ultra wide rig through our garage door and out on the tarmac and experience the raw ride that it is. But if you want to feel invincible, there are few vehicles that can deliver like a military 4x4. We note several things that are not working, including head and tail lights, turn signals, wipers, radio, auxiliary lighting, and the A/C and heat. All other functional items remaining operate as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. You've been prepping for years, and you
