1967 Dodge Dart GT Convertible Still believe that buying a compact car means giving up things? Like stretch out room? Quiet, riding comfort? Or thoughtful luxury touches? Not with '67 Dart. Here's our plan of attack: For 1967, Dart is an all new car. A car with man sized room in the back as well as the front. Dart has more comfort and pure luxury. More posh than anything else in its class. In fact, there is no other compact like Dart.. Thx to the 1967 Dodge Dart sales brochure. For consignment, a 1967 Dodge Dart GT convertible showing 83,064 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This desirable model is a stunner in white and built to the hilt! Dart GT's consistently find new homes when they've graced our halls, and this well sorted car will probably scoot out of here faster than you can say Mopar or no car!. Exterior Modern paint systems make old cars pop, and that's the case with the two stage white paint on this square bodied beauty from '67. The faux hood ducts are a not so subtle inference that something wicked might live under that hood as the rest of the car presents as a common, but sporty commuter car, especially in convertible form. That black canvas top is in nice shape and provides a good sized rear glass window. Up front, marker lights are sculpted into the undulating grille as round headlights surge forward over a straight chrome bumper. Jumping to the rear, square tail lights are muscular in their simplicity and another chrome bumper shines bright. Mopar Rally wheels look fantastic and are staggered, 14-inch front and 15-inch rear. The trim and paint are very nice on this car and we could not find any exterior imperfections. Interior Solid black is the interior motif, beginning on the door panels where the black painted silk tops a ribbed vinyl door cards with very nice hardware and both doors present as new. Same for the bucket seats in front and the bench in back. Up front, things finally veer from stock when a large tachometer, shift light, and oil pressure gauge come downstage, riding the steering column and partially obscuring the speedometer and stock gauges on the clean dash. What is visible is the center stack which houses the AM radio and vent controls, sandwiched between polished trim that runs the width of the dash. The familiar Dodge shifter lives in the snakehead center console over black loop carpet. The trunk is barren but spotless and we are two for two for boxes checked for show worthiness. Drivetrain Three for three! The engine bay is immaculate and home to a 416ci stroker V8 that's been bored .030 and has a Mopar Performance 4 stroke crank, Diamond pistons, Comp Cam .525 lift cam, 2.02i/1.60e valves, 1.5 ratio ductile iron adjustable rockers, and a Thermoquad 4-barrel carburetor over an Edelbrock LD340 intake. The A999 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic has been tweaked with an 11 converter and a reverse manual valve body, and it routes power to the 8 3/4 rear with 3.91 gears. Brake configuration is noted as front disc and rear drum. Undercarriage Bases are loaded and this car hits a grand slam with a clean underside. Minimal surface rust and no errant fluids are noted. The dual exhaust comes from TTI headers, meet at an X-formation, then flow through Dynomax mufflers before exiting through chrome tips out back. Suspension includes torsion bars up front and leaf springs in the back. Drive-Ability This white wonder starts up with zestful ease and bellows from the big dual exhaust. Into gear we go and out to the test loop where the drivetrain provides plenty of pull as the tachometer dances before us. The staggered wheel and tire set up creates a surefooted stance that elicits confidence in turns and tracks straight, but the tires are 23 years old, so we're not lightning it up any time soon. We note the heater blower is not working but all other functions available in this simply configured '67 operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these fu
