83,249 miles
1973 Chevrolet Cheyenne Super 10 Long Bed Pickup We designed a completely new vehicle for '73. And tried to make it everything you've always wanted a truck to be.  It's quiet and roomy inside. The ride is noticeably smoother. Glass area is large for improved visibility. Service is easy. And the new Chevy pickup looks like a light duty truck ought to look. Over 58% of Chevrolet's 1957 model trucks are still in use. Evidence of how well Chevrolet is designed. How well they're built. And how well they serve the U.S.A. From the 1973 Chevy truck brochure. For consignment, a 1973 Chevrolet Cheyenne Super 10 long bed pickup truck, showing 83,249 miles but the true miles are unknown.  Trim packages in 1973 included this top trim Super, the base Cheyenne, the Custom Deluxe, and the Custom, each with similar but individual interior and exterior features.  Crew cab and four wheel drive models were also featured. Exterior A restored exterior starts with two stage orange paint sandwiching a tan mid panel in a familiar period configuration. The cab also wears a tan cap creating a handsome profile at the end of a long bed.  In back, a chrome bumper with diamond steel step surface hovers over a pair of exhaust tips and simple, wide tail lights flank the CHEVROLET embossed tailgate.  There's chrome up front too, along with wide, chrome side mirrors and an aftermarket grille that replaces the egg crate style and bowtie. 15-inch chrome nugget wheels also look period and are wrapped in 75 series tires under wide wheel openings. The bed is painted black and shows usage and why not!  That's a lot of space to use just for show! The truck presents cleanly, and most imperfections are found in the lower panel with some bubbling and uneven filler and the wheels suffer from some surface rust.  Interior Simulated woodgrain over plastic makes up the door panels, surrounded by glossy orange paint and the panels do show some patina, particularly on the armrests. A gray cloth bench is supplied and also shows a touch of wear and has extra wear and a tear at the entry point. The base Chevrolet steering wheel, simple and black, fronts the column with a billet handled shifter. That leads to the gauge cluster, also in simulated wood with black faced dials behind some cloudy plastic lenses.  It's all got patina, some fading, missing screws, no radio and for those of us who grew up in this era, it feels like home! The dash is topped with a carpeted cover and the floor is covered with what Chevrolet called deep twist carpet, in black. Wide sun visors are provided up top.  Drivetrain Under the hood, a driver quality, original looking 350ci, with a 4-barrel carburetor and rated at 155 horsepower. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the rear wheels only where it meets the 12 bolt rear. Power brakes are supplied as front discs and rear drums.  Undercarriage Driver quality under here as well with a good amount of surface rust and corrosion. There are a few spots on the inner panels that have repair panels welded in or spray filler, and there's oil on the pan, the flywheel cover, and the rear differential.  Dual exhaust includes a pair of glasspack style mufflers before heading straight out the back. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back. The bottom of the doors are clean and free of visible rust. Drive-Ability In 1973, pickup trucks were still work trucks, so bare bones was what you were afforded when hauling stuff was more important. But the 350 is virtually bulletproof and fires up without complaint and we roll this truck onto the test loop where it provides fine acceleration, straight tracking, and good stopping power. We note the horn, heater blower, and wipers do not work, so cold, rainy nights might be off the schedule for a while. Every other function provided to the next owner works as they shoul
