Here is a car you don't see every day, and one that doesn't get much attention or recognition in the antique classic car world. Nonetheless, this 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza still gets its share of looks for the obvious reason-it doesn't look like a modern car. The Aqua Green paint has its own uniqueness and character, while the steel body and chrome bumpers reflect a time when plastic and fiberglass were not the main sources of vehicle body structure. Although it may not be the main spectacle at car shows or cruises, it's still a fun and different car to drive. The Aqua interior has its high points. The seats appear to have been redone and are in good shape. The door panels and door cards fit well and look nice. Both the headliner and carpeting are fitted tightly and are in decent shape. The steering wheel is in good shape, and for their age, the original dashboard cluster, radio, and glove box are holding up nicely. Under the front storage lid is a clean, solid area that could handle plenty of storage, and the spare tire if you wanted to relocate it from the engine bay. In the back, the Corvair is powered by a flat-6 cylinder engine with dual 2-barrel carburetors. Power is delivered through a 4-speed manual transmission to a rear swing-axle independent suspension with transverse leaf springs. The front suspension is also independent, using coil springs and shocks. The 13-inch wheels wear stock-appearing hubcaps and are wrapped in P155/80R13 tires. Drum brakes all the way around stop this antique, while long tube headers with a glasspack muffler add a bit of sound to this Monza.
