This 1961 Ford Starliner is a once-in-a-lifetime restomod—a no-expense-spared show car that combines classic Americana with modern performance and precision. When Ford introduced the Starliner in 1960, it was a halo model for the Galaxie line: a sleek, hardtop fastback designed to turn heads with its revolutionary “aerodynamic” styling and clean, sweeping roofline. Rare in any condition today, this Starliner has been transformed into a jaw-dropping machine that honors its heritage while delivering 21st-century performance.
The exterior, finished in a flawless deep black by Wid Wes Paintworks, is nothing short of museum-quality. Every body panel is straight and pristine, reflecting a dedication to perfection. Complementing the aggressive exterior is a fully custom Bux Customs red interior, with a clean, shaved firewall, first-shifter-mounted controls, and new, modern gauges that blend seamlessly into the classic dash layout. Jon Wright’s custom chrome details elevate the elegance even further, while the entire engine bay showcases a beautifully tucked aluminum radiator, creating a streamlined, show-ready look that matches the car’s stunning exterior.
Beneath the surface, this Starliner rides on a modified original frame with tubular control arms and hand-built 4-wheel Wilwood brakes, delivering handling and stopping power far beyond anything this car ever had in 1961. Powering the Starliner is a dyno-tested 427ci Ford Side Oiler, producing 600 horsepower and 635 ft-lbs of torque, outfitted with Borla 8 Stack EFI, Edelbrock heads, forged internals, a roller cam, and a March pulley system. Paired with a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed transmission, this drivetrain offers blistering performance while remaining perfectly controllable, whether on the trailer to shows or on a private track.
The car sits on staggered Schott Custom SS wheels—18x8 front, 20x12 rear—giving it an aggressive stance that perfectly complements its aerodynamic lines. Completed just a few years ago, this Starliner has never seen the street, preserving its flawless, trailer-only condition. Every detail—from the Bux interior and Jon Wright chrome to the Wid Wes paint and meticulous engine bay work—reflects the level of craftsmanship expected from a $350,000 build.
This is more than a car—it’s a rolling work of art, a piece of Ford history, and a modern-day powerhouse. Original Starliners were prized for their forward-looking styling and rarity; today, this restomod elevates that legacy to an entirely new level, combining heritage, craftsmanship, and performance into a single, jaw-dropping package.
