1992 Ford Bronco XLT Dubbed the Original Body Style, (OBS) by Bronco insiders, Generation 5 boasted cleaner lines-particularly on the front end-than earlier series. Designers further enhanced the aerodynamics, which included streamlined exterior mirrors. Accentuating its fresh profile, Bronco came with an exciting, new collection of paint colors and combinations-rumored to be some of the most stunning of its 30 year run. Ford.com For consignment, a 1992 Ford Bronco XLT showing 169,175 miles, but the true miles are unknown. Car and Driver wrote, By the time the fifth gen model debuts for 1992, it is becoming clear that the full size, two door Bronco's days are numbered as four door utility vehicles grow ever more popular with consumers. Ford's updates are minimal, amounting to a new grille and more rounded front end features as well as a freshened interior.. ***Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.*** Exterior Guiness fans take note, this Bronco wears a unique combination of black and tan with two stage tan paint covering the body along with contrasting black accenting that include the grille, bumpers, smoked headlights and markers, mirrors, cap cover, tailgate panel, and those can't miss 15-inch wheels with 33x12.50R15LT Goodyear Wrangler all terrain tires supporting that raised body under plenty of room for travel. It really is a striking, attractive, and decidedly tough looking presentation that is topped by a lighted visor over the windshield and Altezza style tail lights. Overall, paint and body are in great shape with imperfection noted as some bubbling down low, and a couple areas of chipping paint. Interior Black and tan carries to the inside, but mostly black which covers most of the door panels, robust plastic structures that includes a cloth insert, showing some patina on the driver's side. Tan cloth seats are covered in black Ford shells and the tan bench in back if folded forward as a full size spare prevents it from being upright. There's a cover on the steering wheel as well and the column shifter gives way to the simple dash and instrument cluster, all in black with white numbering, while a glossy tan trim bar runs the width of the dash. We have an AM/FM/CD player on board and the standard three dial A/C panel. Black carpet covers the floor, including the cargo area and it shows usage throughout. The black headliner is sagging and torn up front but looks mostly in place in back and loose at the edges. Drivetrain Under the hood, Ford's venerable 5.0 liter V8 and this one was replaced at 140,000 miles. It's fuel injected and backed by a rebuilt E4OD 4-speed automatic that was rebuilt at 160,000 miles. Power is split between axles, each with 4.10 gears and a Yukon locker in the back. Undercarriage Plenty of patina, surface rust, and general oxidation underneath, this baby's been enjoyed. Everything looks generally solid and there are no errant fluids around. Dual exhaust runs through FlowMaster mufflers and exits behind each rear wheel. There are no catalytic converters present. Power brakes are configured as front disc and rear drum and suspension includes radius arm and coil springs up front and leaf springs in the rear. Drive-Ability We climb up, way up, to the familiar cabin of this Bronco and have a bird's eye view of the road, and when you're on a dirt and rocky trail, that's important. Plus, there's plenty of clearance underneath. The 5.0 delivers as usual with plenty of power and torque and the knobby tires roll along, tracking straight and producing a tight turning radius. We note the A/C is not working and the rear power window does not work from the dash switch. All other items in this built tough truck work as they should.
